8:00am [8:00am] Mid-Week Marauders Shady Lakes
Marauders, This week on July 26 we will visit Shady Lakes a great nature photography site just north of Albuquerque. Let's meet outside the main gate at 8:00 a.m. as that's when they open. We have it on good authority that they are operating normally, but still for sale. Here is a link to their web site that will give you an idea of where they are. http://www.shadylakes.com/index_files/Page414.htm Here is the normal Google Map link: https://goo.gl/maps/24iLU89o6842 There is an entry fee for “Artists” and picnicking so take a look here to see how much it will cost you. http://www.shadylakes.com/index_files/Page738.htm This venue will be good for all kinds of small insects including the ever favorite Dragonflies the frog is eating in Lynn's photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62454408@N03/9204550165/in/pool-marauders Because we won’t be in an enclosed pavilion and everything we are trying to photograph will be free to leave at will you may want to consider lenses that are a little longer. In order to enhance your shoot you may want to read the following links about shooting macro subjects. http://www.shutterbug.com/content/four-tips-dynamic-close-photos http://www.outdoorphotographer.com/how-to/tip-of-the-week/10-quick-tips-for-better-close-ups.html http://www.phototechnique.com/macro/top-12-macro-photography-tips/ The following link is to the Cambridge in Colour search box where you should enter “Close-up Photography” without quotation marks. http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/search.htm Lenses that work in the 70-300mm or 80-400mm ranges will work well. Because the subjects will generally be farther away you may not need standoff tubes, but you never know. Teleconvertors, tripods, polarizers, flash off camera and macro flash setups will be helpful. We should be able to capture images that could be used in the Nature category for the next club year at Shady Lakes. We hope we will see you all there.
