Retired from Sandia National Labs, where I worked as an electrical engineer, software engineer, and system architect in remote sensing systems. My hobbies include pottery, hiking, and cooking, and I love to travel! I consider myself an intermediate photographer, always trying to learn and improve. My favorite photographic subjects are landscape and architecture.

We prefer landscape, nature, and wildlife photography. I am an intermediate photographer. I have taken several on line classes, but am looking forward to joining the photography club and improving my photography skills. We are both now retired, and have more time to pursue our other interests. Currently retired, but very busy with photography, traveling, and activities with DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). Main interests in photography are landscapes, native flowers, wildlife, and macro photography. Wildlife and landscape photography are my favorite types of photos to take.

I recently took on the role of membership chair for ELCC. I still work full time in I.T. at the University of New Mexico Health Science Center- but photography is definitely my passion. I have at times done paid photo work- shooting portraits, events, weddings and social media photography for local businesses. But my real focus is Landscape photography with some dabbling in wildlife when the cranes come down to New Mexico. I enjoy experimenting with various other genres of photography as well.

I am a Professional Photographer and Fine Art Printer. My grandmother gave me an old Kodak Brownie box camera when I was eight years old, and I’ve had a camera in my hand ever since. I love photography and producing large format fine art prints from my own shots and those of others. I take great pride in being able to control the quality of large fine art prints in my home studio. And I still have that old box camera. Photography is Art. Live is an Adventure…Enjoy the Ride!

A photo I saw in a Fortune magazine ad when I was 11 kicked off a love of the visual arts that led to a career in advertising agencies, followed by marketing primarily in the wireless and real estate/alternative investments industries. While I studied photography and interned as a news photographer at a newspaper in college, my photographic pursuits went off and on in my 20's and subsequent parenting years, but the gift of a digital camera from my wife about 10 years ago reinflamed my interests, which are primarily abstract and landscape, though I enjoy shooting anything that is poetic to me. I'd say I have an advanced eye, intermediate post capabilities, and intermediate/advanced digital printing skills. Since 2016, I've had two solo shows of my work and have been a part of several group exhibitions (including Fotofest in Houston, from where we recently relocated, and the Amarillo Museum of Art) and another smaller show in Oklahoma City. My wife was "retired" by HP in late 2017 and I left the corporate world in June 2018, which prompted us to relocate to the artsy life in New Mexico under the Sandias. My wife, Cindy, assists with my website and cheers me on.

Married for 50+ years, my wife is an RN, recovering lawyer and historian. We have two sons and one grandson. My best friend is a Malamute/Husky. I also work with rescue horses. Born during WWII in England and spent the war under the dining room table, which I still have but rarely sleep under any more. Spent my early years with horses. Went to Maidenhead Art & Design School which is a department of West London University. Then worked for a studio in Soho, London doing photo retouching back in the days of airbrushing. Moved to Chicago. Worked for an engineering company. Joined the USAF, studied electronics and completed camera and infrared school. Maintained camera systems on RF4C Phantom jets used for reconnaissance (spying). Stationed in Japan. Started a European/British performance car, repair & restoration, brokerage, import/export service in Evanston, Ill. Raced a Jaguar XK140 for twelve years in vintage road racing. Raced an 1929 Austin Seven Special in Britain. Retired to New Mexico and built an off-grid Earthship home in the Sangre de Cristo mountains with solar-electric, solar water-heating, rain catch-water collection, solar heat gain & retention. Retired again. Trained Norwegion Fjord horses at the Coles Ranch, Rowe. Retired again. Now live in Albuquerque. Worked with the Community Policing Committee for a couple of years. Retired. Just sold my Nikon cameras and bought a couple of old Leicas, one film one digital. I have my father's 1958 Kodak Retina IIIs with a complete set of Schneider-Kreuznach lenses. Work really well.

I am an electronics engineer, specializing on radiological medical equipment which I've done my whole career (36 years). i have various hobbies and interests, but the main ones are outdoor activities (hiking, biking, skiing/snowmobiling), kayaking, camping, travel (when I can); I'm a member of a trivia group, and, of course photography. I was always the family photographer (shout-outs to the Kodak Instamatic 126); bought my first 35mm in 1979...a Fujica 605. Within 2 years I had upgraded to a Fujica 705 w/power-wind, an Olympus OM and had bought a darkroom with a Omega head. Myself and a couple of friends used some contacts and started shooting concerts (mostly Jazz artists of the time) but eventually I shot 2 album covers and photos that were used for promotions. The rest of the story I will save for a later time. I consider myself a intermediate lite--trying to keep consistency in shooting, and incorporating it into my outdoor activities. Living here in the southwest (I've been here 26 years total) I have migrated towards landscapes with a hint of nature, and archeology-historical photography (but urban photography has a soft spot in my heart, since that's where I started). currently prefer landscapes, southwestern photography with an emphasis on archaic ruins. My name is Amelia Breitweg and I am passionate about writing and photography, am an avid reader and have a myriad of other hobbies that captivate my interest. I consider myself a novice at photography, as I have very little technical knowledge on the subject. I simply like to capture a beautiful moment and find mystery and majesty in the seemingly mundane. I love to photograph trees, landscapes and the mirror images in puddles or bodies of water. Additionally, I love to photograph the skies, sunsets and moon. I love being able to capture a moment that encapsulates a mood, or memory, or feeling. I am joining this group so that I might learn more and better my photography, as well as meet others that share in the passion of photography.
