7:00pm [7:00pm] Mentorship - Judicious use of Textures - Helen Johnson
Description:

Mentorship -The Judicious use of Textures in Photography

Textures are a great way to enhance and/or change the look of a photo. They can add to your work or detract when used heavy-handedly. I will show you examples of both.

Textures can be anything from “grunge” to “ethereal” so anyone can find some to fit his/her style.

We will explore ways to make the best use of them using different blend modes and masks.

Textures can be downloaded from the internet (many for free) or can be easily made by the photographer. There are also many available in plug-in programs.

Lastly I will supply you links to royalty-free textures of many kinds.

Helen Johnson Bio

I joined the ELCC in the fall of 2009 as a “new-bee” to photography and rapidly became enraptured with it and the club. Photography has been an obsession with me ever since!

My main love has remained photographing old things: cars, houses…anything with a history that I can imagine. Quickly I became interested in creating composites, to add new backgrounds to my photos so that they told the stories I imagined when I took them. I am constantly looking for new ways to enhance my work.

I spent 4 years as co-chair of the Mentorship committee, 2 years as president, and now 2 years as Membership chair. And in between all that taking photos and processing them are my passions.
